Dedicated to the memory of Kath Burton

A wonderful mum, grandma, great grandma, auntie, cousin, sister, friend - Kath was all these things and so many more. Known for her warm smile, generous welcome and cheeky laugh, Kath was always ready for a cup of tea and a natter and could be counted on for fun and laughter, and often a little bit of singing!

A social butterfly, Kath gathered many great friends over her 95 years - and could always be found having a game of cards or playing bingo, organising day trips out for the social club or bringing people together for a coffee morning. Even during last summer, Kath would be outside her bungalow sharing a socially distanced cup of tea with friends and neighbours, keeping their spirits up in tricky times.

As one of eleven children, family was very important to Kath - throughout her life she stayed close to her siblings, their children and grandchildren, always interested in how everyone was doing. Kath surprised us all with her nifty iPad skills and ability to navigate Facebook to stay in touch with relatives and friends, near and far.

Hard-working, strong and independent, Kath was respected and trusted by everyone who knew her and could always be counted on in times of need, there with support, advice and a helping hand. She married Jim on New Years Day in 1949 and they enjoyed endless love and adventures before Jim passed away in 2007. A proud and loving parent, grandparent and great grandparent, the family Kath created with Jim brought her great joy. Known for her epic culinary skills, Sunday roasts were a treat for everyone and no-one ever went hungry! The best maker of milk jelly a grandchild could ever ask for - we will always be grateful for the lifetime of love, kindness and warmth.

At this sad time, the family are inviting you to add photos, memories and share stories of the brilliant times you shared with Kath over the years. This will become an archive to come back to and a way to celebrate such a vibrant and wonderful life. Kath will be immensely missed by everyone who knew her and creating this tribute is part of our way to honour her memory.

For those who would like to, the family would ask that any donations are made through this tribute page to the Hospice of St Francis - a charity and organisation that Kath supported, and who cared for Jill, Kath's daughter, in the last weeks of her life.
